READ THE BOOK

Hungry for more information?

Read Dominick Dunne's latest novel, Too Much Money.

Dom (now deceased) called it a work of fiction and coded it with the requisite 'any resemblance to actual persons, events, yadda, yadda, to be entirely coincidental.'

Dunne's book is a good read.

(Crown Publishers, New York, 2009)

It is interesting to note that one of his 'fictional' characters happens to bear an amazing 'resemblance' to Monty Roberts.

Coincidence of course.

Funny thing about truth - it has a way of pushing to the surface when least expected.

"Fact is the underpinning of morality," said Suzannah Lessard, author of The Architect of Desire at the 1997 National Book Awards. "The issue came up," she said, "because there were some books where we had to wonder about the nature of the material. There were memoirs," she said, "that reconstructed extraordinarily detailed conversations from decades past. It raised an issue for us that it was an imaginary work."

Readers of nonfiction have a right to expect the truth. Anything less is false advertising—a crime in any other business. Should the book business not be held to the same standards?
